Google Play has announced the winners of the ” Google Play Best of 2024 “. ” Gakuen Idolmaster ” has been selected as the winner of the Best Game Award .
“Google Play Best of 2024” is an annual awards program that selects the most popular Google Play content in Japan in 2024, including best apps, best games, and grand prizes in each category.
The Best Game Award went to “Gakumasu,” the first completely new game in the “Idolmaster” series in six years. It features impressive camerawork and lighting that enhance the “realism,” as well as impressive live performance scenes that are played out using carefully crafted 3D models.
Furthermore, the deep story that unfolds about these aspiring idols, who are overflowing with charm but also have big worries, is also appealing, with the award introduction page stating, “The way the characters sometimes clash violently and struggle, but still bravely climb the ladder to the stage of their dreams, is relatable and has captured the hearts of not only fans of the series, but many other users as well.”
I am truly honored to receive the very prestigious award of Best Game 2024. Thank you very much. I believe this is all thanks to our development partner QualiArts, the cooperation of all the various people involved in the story, music, video, etc., and above all, the producers who play the game. Once again, I would like to express my gratitude.
In “Gakuen Idolmaster,” each idol faces various problems, such as the fear of losing, the difficulty of self-expression, loss of confidence, etc. As we support these girls and watch them grow as they move forward step by step while facing their problems, we hope to give them the courage to take even a small step forward.
Although it has only just begun, we are working at full throttle to prepare various developments so that everyone can continue to enjoy the series, so we hope you will continue to support “Gakuen Idolmaster.”
We will also introduce some of the titles that won grand prizes in each game category.
The Grand Prize in the Multi-Device Games category went to “Pokémon Sleep,” the Pick Up & Play category went to “Monster Hunter Puzzle: Airou Island,” the Indie category went to the app version of “Watermelon Game,” and the PC version of Google Play Games category went to “Narushio.”
