“Chiikawa” will release “Tabemas Assortment”, a set of two types of Japanese sweets. The three “Tabemas Assortment Chiikawa” products, which combine Japanese sweets in the shapes of Chiikawa, Hachiware, Rabbit, and Star, will be sold at FamilyMart stores nationwide from November 26, 2024.
“Chiikawa” is a manga by illustrator Nagano from X (formerly Twitter). It depicts the fun, sad, and slightly hard daily life of the always hardworking Chiikawa and her friends Hachiware and Usagi, as well as other unique characters.
The first six volumes of the book “Chiikawa: Something Small and Cute” are currently on sale from Kodansha. The long-awaited seventh volume of the latest comic is scheduled to be released on November 21, 2024. In addition, a TV anime version has been broadcast on Fuji TV’s Mezamashi TV since April 2022.
A wide range of developments have been made, including merchandise, collaboration cafes, and corporate collaborations, and the “Chiikawa Bakery” opened in the Harajuku/Omotesando area on October 29, 2024, which has become a hot topic.
The new brand, “Tabemasu,” is an abbreviation of “edible mascot,” and is a brand of Japanese character sweets. The sweets are made with bean paste, sugar, mochi flour, and other ingredients to express the characteristics of the characters, and are so adorable that they’re almost a shame to eat them. Not only are they delicious, but you can also enjoy the beauty of their elaborate craftsmanship.
“Tabemas Assorted Chiikawa” is a set of Japanese sweets that combines mochi mochi mochi mochi, hachiware mochi, and rabbit mochi mochi with a star mochi mochi mochi. As the name “Tabemas” suggests, both edible mascots are made entirely from edible ingredients.
Chiikawa, Hachiware and Usagi also appear wearing pajamas. This is the first time for the “Tabemas Chiikawa” series to have designs with costumes. The combination of each character and the star makes for a very cute look.
Each character has five different facial expressions. Find your favorite design from the wide range of expressions.
The filling inside also has a different flavor for each product: Chiikawa is filled with strawberry bean paste and the star in the set is filled with smooth bean paste, Hachiware is filled with milk bean paste and the star is filled with smooth bean paste, and Usagi is filled with milk tea-flavored bean paste and the star is filled with chocolate-flavored bean paste.
Chiikawa, Hachiware and Usagi are made using a new method that incorporates red bean paste into both the nerikiri and mochi, recreating a chewy texture. The combination of the pajama-wearing design and stars makes them the perfect sweets for relaxing in the evening.
The three “Tabemas Aso-to Chiikawa” products will be available at FamilyMart stores nationwide from November 26th. The price is 398 yen (tax included).
