It has been announced that the manga “Dekin no Mole” by Natsumi Eguchi, the original author of “Hoozuki no Reitetsu”, will be adapted into a TV anime and will be broadcast in July 2025. In conjunction with this, a teaser visual and PV have been released. It has also been announced that Yuichi Nakamura will be playing the main character, Mole (Hyakuan Momoyumi), and a comment has arrived.
The manga “Banned Mole” is the latest work by Natsumi Eguchi, who also created the hugely popular manga “Hozuki’s Coolheadedness,” which was adapted into a TV anime. It is currently being serialized in Kodansha’s “Morning.” The popular horror
x comedy work depicts the mysterious and funny mysteries of this world surrounding the mysterious “self-proclaimed sage” mole, Momoyumi, who says, “I can’t die because I’m banned from the afterlife,” and those who meet him.
Due to a certain incident, Mogura was banned from the afterlife, but he is collecting the “lights” of ghosts in a lantern in order to return to the afterlife. It is said that if you meet him, you will be able to see strange things… The story revolves around Mogura, where “people” and “spirits” interact.
Now, it has been decided that this work will be made into a TV anime. The released teaser visual shows a mole standing on Drawer Street with a lantern in his hand, creating an eerie yet fantastical atmosphere.
It was also revealed that the voice actor for Mole will be Nakamura Yuichi. Nakamura also commented, “There are many facial expressions, from bright to dark, from tsukkomi to boredom to seriousness, so I’m trying to find the right balance between those two.”
The teaser PV, which was released at the same time, allows you to hear the voice of Mole, played by Yuichi Nakamura. The animated version gives you a glimpse of the “suspicious” Mole’s appearance.
The TV anime “Dekin no Mole” will start broadcasting in July 2025. Along with the announcement of the TV anime, the official website, Official X, has also been opened, raising expectations for further updates in the future. In addition, the original author, Natsumi Eguchi, has sent a congratulatory comment, so be sure to read it.
Q1. What is the appeal of this work
? I was impressed by the unique way it conveys messages, with jokes and stories of the supernatural, especially war, mixed in.
Each character is well-rounded, and the conversations are well-paced, so it’s easy to get drawn in.
Q2. Passion for acting:
I thought the most important thing was the sense of tension in the character (also in terms of the number of scenes in which he appears and the number of lines), so I felt I had to be careful about the balance.
In anime, the tempo of the lines and the flow of the scenes must be decided by the viewer, not adjusted to suit them, so I thought it would be difficult to create a work with this amount of information…
Hyakuan has many facial expressions, such as bright parts, dark parts, and serious parts that are full of humor, so I am also trying to find the right balance.
I am very grateful. Given the subject matter it deals with, I think people will either love it or hate it, but I hope everyone will enjoy it in their own way.
The anime staff checked every last detail, and every time I see a detailed background setting, my assistant and I say, “So this is what this building was like.” The
voice actors and the music are a perfect match, and I’m impressed with the professional work they did, as they were able to pick up on even the most subtle nuances. I’m looking forward to watching it air myself.
