November 23rd is Labor Thanksgiving Day.
It is a national holiday that has its roots in the Niiname-sai festival, which celebrates bountiful harvests, and is considered “a day to celebrate labor, celebrate production, and give thanks to one another.”
There is a genre of anime called “work anime” that focuses on specific occupations. They range from familiar occupations that everyone knows to occupations that are not so familiar to the general public , and are depicted in a variety of ways.
So Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “What comes to mind when you think of ‘work-related anime’?”
following on from last year. We received responses from 116 people during the survey period from November 14th to November 16th. The gender ratio was about 40 percent male, 55 percent female, and about 5 percent gave no response, with more females than males. In terms of age group, the majority were young people, with about 40 percent under 19 and about 15 percent in their 20s.
