Along with this, the key visual was released, and the mysterious plot of “Hoshino’s Holiday” was also revealed.

“Kaiju No. 8” is a TV anime based on the manga by Naoya Matsumoto, which has been serialized on Shueisha’s manga magazine app “Shonen Jump+” since July 2020 and has 14 volumes published to date, with a total domestic circulation of over 16 million copies, including digital versions.

Set in a world where monsters are a daily threat to people, Kafka Hibino, who works in a monster cleaning business, begins to pursue his old dream of joining the “Japan Defense Force” to defeat monsters again, but is transformed by a mysterious small monster into a monster with great powers. Kafka is named “Monster No. 8” and is chased by all of Japan, but he refuses to give up on his dream of becoming a defense force member and faces monster disasters… This is the story.

The first season of the anime, produced by a large monster-class tag team of Production IG for animation and Studio Khara for monster design and works, was broadcast on TV Tokyo and other networks from April 2024, and was also streamed in real time around the world on X (formerly Twitter), creating a huge buzz around the world. Although the broadcast ended amid great acclaim, the second season has been scheduled and is still attracting attention.

The theatrical release date for the first season compilation and the simultaneous screening “Hoshino’s Day Off” has been set for March 28, 2025.
At the same time, staff information was also announced. In addition to the staff who created the high-quality anime in the first season, it has been revealed that the story of the all-new episode “Hoshino’s Day Off” will be written by Tsukuda Yuto, who is in charge of the original story of “Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma,” and by Kido Yuichiro, who is the series composer and scriptwriter for “Dr. Stone” and the scriptwriter for “Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!”.

The plot of “Hoshino’s Day Off,” which had been shrouded in mystery, has also been revealed. Reno, who has forgotten how to spend his days off due to his days engrossed in training, senses something unusual about Hoshina, who is also off duty, and decides to follow him with Iharu… This is how the story unfolds. What is the unusual presence emanating from Hoshina on his day off, and what awaits beyond the mystery? You’ll want to find out the conclusion of Reno and Iharu’s Hoshina tailing mission at the theater.
