The final 42nd volume of the manga “My Hero Academia” by Horikoshi Kohei will be released on December 4th. The cover has now been revealed for the first time. In addition, details about the “Horikoshi Kohei My Hero Academia Original Art Exhibition” to be held in 2025 and a newly drawn key visual have also arrived.
“My Hero Academia” is a hero action manga by Kohei Horikoshi that began in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 32 (released on July 7, 2014) and ended its 10-year run in the combined special issue 36/37 of 2024 (released on August 5). The total number of copies of the series in circulation worldwide exceeded 100 million in April 2024. It has also been the subject of
media mix, including a TV anime series, a movie anime, a game, and a stage play, and the TV anime’s “FINAL SEASON” is scheduled to air in 2025. A fan book and the first art book will be released in 2025, and a new original art exhibition is also scheduled to be held.
The final volume of this work, volume 42, will include not only the climax of the battle between the hero Deku (Midoriya Izuku) and his fellow heroes, and the final chapter, which had a huge impact both in Japan and overseas due to its moving finale when the issue was released, but also 38 pages of original manga that depicts what happens next. Ahead of the release on December 4th, the cover has been unveiled for the first time. The composition is based on the first volume, and the illustration gives a sense of the growth of Deku and the other members of Class 1-A at U.A. High School.
Additionally, the dates and venue for the much-talked-about original exhibition “Horikoshi Kohei’s ‘My Hero Academia’ Original Art Exhibition,” which was announced when the series ended, have also been decided. The exhibition will take place for 72 days from June 21 to August 31, 2025 at CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO in Kyobashi, Tokyo. Along with the announcement, a key visual drawn by Horikoshi specifically for the exhibition, “Izuku Midoriya and Tomura Shigaraki,” was also unveiled. Future updates will be announced on the recently opened official website and official X (formerly Twitter) as they become available.
